Overall Purpose of Job

The primary role of the post is to provide town and country planning expertise to clients in the holiday and home parks (caravan) sector and other tourism and leisure sectors (hotels, pubs, golf courses, attractions).

Main Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities

To undertake planning appraisals of the likelihood of achieving planning consent for tourism and leisure development proposals
To identify and make representations on behalf of clients in the review of local development frameworks.
To research, prepare and submit planning applications for tourism and leisure development proposals.
To research, prepare and submit appeals against refusals of planning consent.
To research and prepare proofs of evidence for senior staff standing as expert witness at planning inquiries.
To write tender proposals to win new project work.
To develop a specialist planning knowledge within the tourism and leisure business.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Hons Degree in relevant subject (Town Planning, Geography, Economics)
RTPI Accredited Planning Degree
RTPI Chartered Membership 
3-5 years’ planning experience
1-2 years private sector planning experience
2-3 years planning experience with a rural, and/or Green Belt, and/or coastal planning authority
An understanding of planning policy
An understanding of development management process
