Overall Purpose of Job

GVA's Automotive and Roadside team is a market leader and provides a full range of services including valuation, agency, investment, development and lease consultancy.    The team deals with roadside property including vehicle dealerships, petrol filling stations, trunk road / motorway service areas, fast food retail and coffee outlets.  Based in Birmingham, but operating nationwide, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the UK to fulfil this demanding, fast moving and exciting role.   Working as part of a highly regarded, close knit and profitable small team, you will principally take responsibility for Red Book valuation instructions, and will have the opportunity to become one of few genuine market experts in this unique field, working closely with high profile clients.  The successful candidate will be offered the opportunity to stand out from the crowd. Main Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities

The role is principally valuation related however there is scope for expansion / crossover into other service lines, including lease consultancy and agency.    In addition, you will actively be encouraged to contribute to wider business strategy, and will have the opportunity to build and develop relationships with clients. An existing client base is considered an advantage, but is not essential.   You will work with, and report directly to the National Head of the Business Unit, offering full exposure and transparency of individual performance, thus again aiding career progression prospects.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Whilst a thorough understanding of valuation is important, exposure to this specific sector is certainly not essential as we are able to provide comprehensive training and guidance for the right candidate.   We are looking for a chartered surveyor with a minimum of 1 year’s PQE with a track record in the preparation of RICS Red Book commercial property valuations.   You should be commercially focused and happy working both independently and as part of a team.   Ideally you will have worked in a large property organisation and will have a breadth of knowledge and a keen willingness to learn new skills.
