Overall Purpose of Job


Working to maintain and build destination profile of primarily Brindleyplace in Birmingham – along with one other small scheme - with occupiers, prospective occupiers and local residents / businesses/ city networks through a strategic plan incorporating;

  • traditional and digital marketing channels
  • occupier engagement
  • events and commercial activity
  • reporting to client owner on a monthly basis


Main Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities


Traditional & Digital Marketing

Print Collateral

  • Preparation and planning of content for Guide/magazine style collateral
  • Coordination of delivery and distribution of promotional and communications collateral to maintain readership levels in the city
  • Coordination of conversion of digital versions of print as required
  • Management of third party agent to deliver loyalty cards and scheme to new applicants
  • Production and installation of posters, banner and advertising signage on seasonal basis across the schemes
  • Creative agency management, effective briefing and performance measurement


Website & Social Media Management

  • Day to day maintenance of the websites and some social media ensuring content is relevant and aligned to style of each scheme
  • Briefing of social media agency / on site teams with content/messages to be communicated
  • Analysis of website traffic on a monthly basis


Networking & Profile raising

  • PR agency management (Brindleyplace) or draft press releases as required (smaller scheme)
  • Attend regular networking events in the region to extend network and contacts, and raise profile of schemes


Occupier Engagement

  • Collate monthly retail tenant promotions, offers or competitions for promotion through website, social media, digital and print platforms
  • Quarterly tenant meeting to discuss forthcoming events and activity, issues and opportunities


Events & Commercial Activity

  • Full management of existing event programmes on each scheme including but not limited to; Brindleyplace’s Dragonboat Race (24 June), Film Festival (July), Chilli Festival (September), summer food markets, Chocolate Festival and spring and Christmas activity on both schemes (budget management, concept planning, briefing, supplier liaison, on the day event management)
  • Proactive management of filming and photography requests on each location
  • Potential to secure sponsorship for events activity on the schemes involved
  • Organise, plan and execute events at smaller site as and when required



  • Annual budgeting and monthly reconciliation with support from senior management team
  • Weekly handling of ad hoc enquiries that may arise
  • Preparation of monthly report for client owner of the estate
  • Attendance at monthly meeting with client to highlight previous month activity and forthcoming activity.




  • Work with the Head of Campaigns/Marketing Manager to produce the annual plan for your site(s) each year
  • Review previous year’s activity, look at best practice and emerging trends in marketplace and make strategic recommendations to the client
  • Support Head of Campaigns/Marketing Manager with wider brand positioning and development activity as required



Desired Knowledge, Skills and Experience



  • Degree or alternative business / CIM qualification is preferred


Skills and Knowledge:

  • IT literate
  • General Twitter, Facebook, Website management, Wordpress, Google analytics, SEO understanding
  • Personal Licence Holder is desirable but not essential
  • Hard-working
  • Organised
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a more virtual team (geographically disparate)
  • Ability to understand budgeting, ordering and profitability – highly desirable



  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder management, client handling and occupier engagement
  • Well-presented individual for regular meetings, networking and public engagement
  • Existing connections and network within Birmingham is desirable



  • Previous marketing / events role of experience is essential
  • Experience within busy and varied role is desirable
  • Experience of running large scale events is essential
  • Experience of design/marketing/print agency management is desirable
